IDX's CEO Tom Kelly Talks Protecting our Personal Data from Hackers
As featured on Bill Martinez Live
In today’s increasingly digital world, data breaches seem to be a part of everyday life. While Americans may be tempted to become less vigilant in protecting their privacy, the risks need to be taken seriously – now more than ever before.
Tom Kelly, CEO of IDX, recently joined Bill Martinez Live to talk about the key ways in which hackers steal consumers’ information, and the steps we can take to protect our personal information from potential attacks.
One emerging threat to keep an eye out for: social media platforms. When consumers don’t limit the amount of information they provide to Instagram, Facebook or other sites, they make it an easy way for criminals to access their personal, private data. Hackers steal individuals’ information from these sites and upload it on the dark web, an underground version of the Internet where criminals can buy and sell stolen information.
Kelly says that maintaining good password hygiene, downloading a password manager, and using multi-factor identification on apps are some of the best ways to protect one’s privacy today.
Because so many jobs are now remote and society is more dependent than ever on technology, it has never been more important to protect against cyber attacks. The only foolproof way to protect your personal information is through an identity protection plan, like MyIDCare, which guards more than 40 million Americans from data breaches through credit activity monitoring, password protection, social media monitoring, and dark web scanning to name a few.
