IDX’s CEO and President Tom Kelly Discusses the Cybersecurity Risks of Working From Home

Remote work may seem innocent, but it exposes you to countless unseen risks that threaten your data privacy and cybersecurity

These risks were the topic of conversation in a recent interview with FOX Cape Coral by Tom Kelly, CEO and President of IDX. More and more people are working from home and using work devices to connect to their personal internet and Wi-Fi networks. That means they are enlarging their digital footprint and attracting the attention of hackers and cybercriminals. What’s more, many people are using social media while on the job or connecting to social media to their work devices. This is a mistake, as social media presents one of the biggest threats to your data privacy and cybersecurity. “That’s because you’re in an environment you think is safe…But some of the people you think you’re connected to may well be somebody else,” said Tom.

Faced with these threats, it is imperative that every individual begin practicing good password hygiene and cybersecurity practices. And it is time for companies to recognize the risks their workers are exposed to.
