IDX's CEO Tom Kelly Talks Cybercrime and Health Organizations

IDX President and CEO, Tom Kelly, recently joined the Lars Larson Show to discuss the topic of his recent op-ed for Security Magazine, “Health agencies are gathering data to combat COVID-19: Here’s why that might be a problem and what to do about it.”

In their conversation, Kelly shared with Lars the increased threats targeting consumers’ privacy during the pandemic, especially with many still working from home. In addition, he explains how cybercriminals are increasingly targeting health organizations because they are highly lucrative due to the sensitive data they protect. Kelly also revealed that many consumer apps that use the information provided by health organizations are not guarded with the same level of protection, as many do not fall under HIPAA.

To combat these attacks, Kelly recommends good password hygiene and updating one’s software to make better protect their accounts and digital privacy from attack.
